England 2019

A few days in London, lots of visits with brilliant relatives, then off to explore the New Forest and the Isle of Wight!

London Town

After the long flight from Australia, we took a few nights in London to relax. London is such an amazing place though, that we had to get out and wander a bit!

Borough Markets

Borough Markets are BRILLIANT! They are colourful, vibrant and so alive! All the food smells are guaranteed to give you an appetite!

Harwich

We actually visited this historic town TWICE, and loved it both times! Did you know that the Mayflower sailed for the Americas from Harwich – not Plymouth Rock? True…

Colchester Castle

Some nice exhibits, and it was interesting enough, but sadly not much of the original castle remains. But a day out to anywhere with Cousins Jeanette and Colin is worthwhile 🙂

Battlesbridge

Next stop was a B&B in a really quaint little Essex town called Battlesbridge, famous for their Antique stores!

Clacton Pier

Cousins Colin and Jeanette took us to Clacton Pier – Fabulous!

Maldon

Home of world-famous Maldon Salt – and what a lovely spot! I remember coming here as a young lad to look at a yacht my Dad was thinking of buying – to sail to Australia!!

Blackmore Village

My Mum had been telling us about this little town for ages, so we had to go and take a look. It’s not the easiest to get to, but worth the bother if you want to step back in time a hundred years or so!

Henley-on-Thames

When we were looking for an overnight near Oxford (to visit with Cousin Neil) we came across the Cherry Tree Inn. Who could pass that by?

Beaulieu

Beaulieu is a beautiful estate nestled in the stunning New Forest in Hampshire. The old Manor and Abbey have been well maintained, and are really worth a visit.

Beaulieu Motor Museum

Last time we visited the U.K. we found Beaulieu, but didn’t have time to stop and take a good look, so it was firmly on the agenda this time. It’s certainly an amazing place, with something to offer for just about everyone! The Top Gear display was very cool, and there were some extremely fine examples of a whole bunch of legendary Motor Vehicles, all nestled on the grounds of the Beaulieu Estate.

World of Top Gear

One of the main attractions in Beaulieu is the World of Top Gear display, which houses almost every vehicle used on the TV show, including the Toyota Hilux and the XJ-S Railcar!

Lyndhurst

Known as the Capital of the New Forest, Lyndhurst is a stunningly beautiful town with a long and fascinating history.

Lyndhurst Ferraris

In the quaint little village of Lyndhurst unexpectedly sits a Ferrari Dealership! Somebody around here must have a few quid!

The Isle of Wight

I’ve long wanted to visit the magical Isle of Wight, and it was worth the wait – what a fantastic and beautiful place!

Brooklands

Brooklands is almost a myth in the minds of many motor racing fans, so when the opportunity arose to pay a visit – of course I went! And it was good! Very good.
